Deep in the sacred heartlands
Of scripture and faith
Lie men of all walks of life-

Who persist to torment the vulnerable
Who exist amongst the barren land
That becomes ever scorched

By changing climates
That serve as the only reminder
Of a world beyond the closed minds-

Of an ultra-traditionalist world
Where humanism is a lost cause
And tolerance is long forgotten,

For in the sweltering desert
That cradles our submission
Is a more sinister tale of individuals-

Dehumanized by the broken promises
Of equality and respect
Guised under religious submission.
